No. 4: Love in Greece

Clothing:

Draped red cloth with gold design, pinned over left shoulder, leaving left arm bare. No further detail visible.

Accessories:

Brooch, pinning fabric together at shoulder, has circular green stone, surrounded by smaller, colorless gems. Two trailing strands of pearls are attached.

Comments:

As with many of the cover paintings, this one doesn't correlate exactly with anything in the stories. It may be related to Dorian's outfit in Greece, #6, but that one doesn't appear to be patterned and is probably white or pastel in color.

Clothing:

Very loose-fitting shirt, light-colored; low, round neck gathered into narrow band; full sleeves gathered into cuffs.

What appears to be a sort of doublet, loose-fitting, open to the waist in front. Light-colored fabric with a dark, patterned lining. Loose, open sleeve, caught around upper arm by a decorative band. The back of the garment seems to hang loosely in a sort of cape, waist length, with fringe on the lower edge.

Accessories:

Turban-style hat, of light-colored fabric with a narrow, twisted band in darker color wrapped around it. Strands of pearls are looped around the whole thing.

Necklace: a choker-length strand of pearls with pendant loops hanging from it and a teardrop-shaped stone at the bottom of each pendant loop.

Band around upper arm, patterned, looks like it might be metal. Has circlet of pearls on it, possibly a buckle or fastening, with strand of pearls hanging from it and a large teardrop-shaped stone at the end of the strand.

A hint of a dark-colored belt can be seen; no detail visible.

Comments:

A fanciful outfit with a strong Italian Renaissance influence.

Clothing:

Loose-fitting, light-colored tunic or robe with front wrap closing. Shawl collar, full sleeves gathered into cuffs. Collar, front band, cuffs and sash are dark-colored.

Light-colored trousers, probably pajamas or loungewear and of lightweight fabric.

Accessories:

Plain ring on third finger of right hand.

Robe has sash to match contrast details.

Comments:

Just lounging around the house.

Clothing:

Very loose-fitting, light-colored tunic, hip length, with V-neck, wide collar trimmed with ruffle, tie or ruffle at center front of neck opening, full sleeves gathered at wrist, ruffled cuffs, lace trim around bottom edge of tunic.

Dark-colored tights.

Accessories:

Sash of striped fabric, twisted. No fastening visible.

Comments:

This looks like more casual loungewear, in the tunic-over-tights silhouette Dorian often favors.

Clothing:

Very close-fitting dark top, sleeveless, deep V-neck.

Dark trousers or leggings, or the whole outfit might be a one-piece catsuit.

Accessories:

Choker, plain, probably metal (looks too thick for fabric).

Wide cuff bracelet on left wrist.

Narrow armband on right bicep.

Belt, worn below waist level; no details visible.

Comments:

Another of the dark, close-fitting outfits Dorian uses as "working garb".

Clothing:

Loose-fitting draped top, light-colored, with low, draped neckline, and long panels hanging from shoulders in back.

Fitted, light-colored trousers with front creases.

Accessories:

Thin bangle bracelet on left wrist.

Wide, patterned cuff bracelet on right wrist.

Plain ring on third finger of right hand.

Wide sash of ornately patterned fabric, loosely knotted at left front.

Comments:

Dorian's tribute to Greece. Certainly a distinctive look, though I'm not sure the crisply creased trousers quite work with the draped top.

Clothing:

Dark shirt with wide collar & lapels, worn open at neck; full, transparent gauze sleeves, gathered into cuffs of shirt fabric.

Light-colored waistcoat with topstitch trim at edges.

Light-colored trousers, close-fitting.

Dark boots, square toes, medium heels.

Accessories:

Short pearl necklace.

Plain ring on third finger of right hand.

Comments:

This is just so late-1970s!

Light-colored shirt, short sleeved or sleeveless, with front wrap opening (open to below middle of chest).

Dark cape, mid-calf length, with waist-length overcape and high, standing collar. Has medium-color lining, and trim of similar shade around all edges.

Light-colored boots, to below knee, worn over trousers.

Accessories:

Broad-brimmed wideawake hat, color and trim to match cape.

Light-colored scarf, looped loosely around neck and knotted at left front.

Wide, patterned cuff bracelet on right wrist.

Dark belt with open rectangular buckle.

Comments:

Dorian the Spy. Rather fetching, really.

Clothing:

Loose-fitting, light-colored shirt, open in deep V in front, wide collar. Pleated into curved yoke. Long sleeves with cuffs.

Close-fitting trousers, medium color, jeans styling.

Dark boots with lighter-colored toes and heels, to below knee, worn over trousers.

Accessories:

Very thin short chain necklace.

Scarf looped loosely around neck; ends not visible.

Dark belt with open rectangular buckle.

Comments:

Nice shirt, but it gets trashed when he bails out of the car. (And hopelessly stained with mercurochrome afterward.)

Clothing:

Dark (prob. black), very close-fitting catsuit. (This one is pretty definitely a one-piece catsuit rather than separates.) Long sleeves, front neck opening in very deep V (to below waist).

Dark (prob. black) boots, high heels.

Accessories:

Wide, patterned choker, looks like metal.

Wide armband around left upper arm.

Wide cuff bracelets on both wrists.

Plain ring on third finger of right hand.

Comments:

Black stretch-knit working garb again. That plunge neckline is rather spectacular.
